Is there family camping at Fisher's Hill, Sept. 13-14, 2008?
No. All military reenactors are full participants in the event, with roles to play. Military camps are military camps.
Question: Is there a fixed camp for federals for the weekend?
In the words of Maxwell Smart, "Yes AND no." Federals will bivouac. We should be capable of packing up and moving out in less than 30 minutes.
What will we use for shelter?
The shelter tent is the best choice. Tent flies, blankets, rubber blankets, brush shelters are also an option. It's a bivouac and we are usually reasonably comfortable, especially with brisk fires.
What are the guiding impressions for federal regiments?
Late war federal infantry. We are portraying the 34th Massachusetts.
How much ammunition should I bring?
We're fighting for two days, and may be called upon to do living history demonstrations for the public. Figure on a lot of shooting. 120 rounds is not too much. Having said that, keep in mind that you may take a lot of them home.
What about rations?
Bring your own. Period rations, please, in period packaging. Leave the damned Oreos home. :-)
